Walkers to Talkers...

If last July I had 2 walkers in the house - this July I have 2 talkers in the house. The tots are really doing very well with their "verbal skills" which may be something that I wish didn't happen soooo quickly once they begin really verbalizing their opinion! :-)

Their vocabulary is expansive. They will often says words to me that I had no idea they knew. The other day we were in the pool and they heard something. And they looked at me with wide eyes. Wyatt said to me: "Listen Mommy." And I looked at him and stopped what I was doing. Then I heard it....and Wyatt said to me: "Wood pecker Mommy." How did they know that? Must be the Nanny!! :-)

They can put little sentences together now. I often hear the following phrases from both of them.
I'll get it.
My Watch Show.
My some ice cream.
My some ice cream too.
There you go.
Need Help Mommy.
My all done potty.
This my helmut.
See you soon.
Thats my car. Or thats my blankie. Or that my WHATEVER (because it is always something one has that the other wants!)
Uh-oh - broke.
My get down or my get up.
No - that my cup.
Wyatt - wake up! (Teagan is the first up or the last to sleep - but she always tries to wake up Wyatt)
Go Night Night.
Tiggy Likes (insert whatever)
Funny.
Tickle - Tickle (followed by them trying to tickle you)
Light on please. Can't see. (usually Wyatt will turn out the light while Teagan is on the potty!)
I see (whatever)

Wyatt calls Teagan by the following names:
Tiggy (sounds like Teegi)
Teagan May (sounds like Te'gn May)
T.May (actually sounds like T.May!)

Teagan calls Wyatt by the following names:
Wyatt (sounds like Why-it)
Wyatt Clinton (sounds like Why-it Kin-ton)
Brother (sounds like Bra-der)

Teagan surprises me almost every day with new words and thoughts. The other day she found her very first pair of "real shoes" that we got for her when she started walking (they were in a drawer with some other items meant for storage). If you saw them, they are an adorable pair of pink leather shoes that featured a "squeeker" so every time she took a step she squeeked. We liked it because we knew where she was in the house. Well this time when she found them she went to put them on and said: "Too small Mommy. Shoes too small". But none the less she shoved just one of her now size 6 1/2 foot into her size 4 shoe and begin to walk around...and they squeeked.

Well she was DELIGHTED!! So she kept stomping on that foot squeeking. She immediately sat back down to put the other shoe on...but when she stood up to make it squeek - it didn't make any noise. She looked at me and said: "No make noise Mommy" with her hands up like she was asking a question. I told her they were broke. She replied with "Yeah, its broke."
I had an actual conversation with my two year old little girl. I am thrilled. Major milestone for a first time parent.

They are also very much getting the concept of "where" something is. They will walk around the house and ask "Where are you?" of one another.

They now can say:
Over there
Right here
Down there
Up high
Very far
when you ask them where something is.

The other day I was in the bathroom with Teagan as she was going potty and Wyatt came running down the hall (you can hear his little feet pitter patter down the hall so you know he is coming) and busts into the bathroom saying "Max! Max!" (Max is his cousin) So I replied with the inevitable question: Where is Max? I am thinking did my sister stop by for something? Did I not hear the doorbell?

I finish up with Teagan and she is yammering about "M,M Mommy. My want M,M." and Wyatt is going on and on: "Max here. Max here" We all head down the hall towards the kitchen and Wyatt is saying to me: "Come on Mommy, Come on." At this point I hand Teagan a yellow M&M...then I say "Where is Max?" And he leads me to the family room where he points to a framed picture and says: "Right here Mommy. Max." Oh right - there is Max - in the picture. Duh Mommy.

The other day we were headed to the park in the stroller and it was in the morning around 9:30 am. As we were walking Wyatt said: "Look Mommy! Moon." And I said: "Where is it?" Thinking to myself huh? Moon? And he said: "Very far." Then he puts his hands up and towards to the moon and says: "Reach...." How cute is that? So I told him to keep reaching...

This was us in the pool the other day and Wyatt decides to help his sister cool down by dumping water on her. Very nice of him wasn't it? To think of her that way? So thoughtful these two!!

The other favorite that drives their Daddy nuts is to dump water outside the pool!
