Before School

Here are Wyatt and Teagan one morning before Play School.
Of course they have to call their "people" to let them know we are leaving for school now!

They are really very fond of our dog Delux these days. It is sort of cute.

Thank You

I would like thank anyone who was involved in helping my Brother-In-Law, Rolando, survive his recent car accident. By the grace of god, by the grace of Mother Nature, by the grace of the universe or whatever you particularly believe in; he survived.

He was coming home from work last week when traffic came to a sudden halt and he was rear ended. His truck flipped and landed upside down. Thankfully, he didn't get knocked out. He woke up, realized he was upside down and said he smelled gas. Then he heard a lady in the distance say: "Oh my god, it is on fire." That is when he realized he had to get out. He found a way out through the back window that had been shattered so he crawled out by himself. Amazingly, he is totally OK.
What a reminder: live every day, it is precious.
We love you Rolo.

Some fun...

We also had some nice play dates with friends. It is so nice to see the kids starting to really interact with friends and learn to play/socialize. They are finally at an age where they are “getting” it.

With their twin pals Chase and Blake. They are mostly a unit to Teagan and Wyatt. They can't tell which one is Chase and which one is Blake, so they just call them: "ChaseBlake".

Having a play date at Alissa and Brody's house is so much fun because these two literally just ate the entire time we were there! Too much yummy food in that house!!

Easter

We had a great time at my parents Ranch for Easter. This year, as every year, the highlight was the Easter Egg hunt. My parents hid over 350 eggs on their property for the little ones and the bigger ones.
Once you collect all of your eggs: you empty them for the goodies! Then you get to trade in all your empty eggs for prizes.

Then when we got home from the Ranch we discovered the Easter Bunny had visited Teagan and Wyatt’s room. He left these adorable Easter baskets filled with play-doh, bubbles, books and a couple of eggs with Jelly Bellies (favorites in our household.) The Easter Bunny also left these “awesome” skate boards that Wyatt is just in LOVE with. I can already see our next E.R. visit! J

Whew

What a couple of months it has been! It seems like the kids have been sick, or REALLY sick for the last 8 weeks non-stop. I will spare all the details, but lets just say you don’t want your kids or yourself to get the nasty stomach flu that is going around. It lasts for one week, features temperatures of 103 to 104 degrees, the inability to keep anything down for at least 24 hours as well as frequent “burps” into a bowl. L It was a rough time around here as both kids had this and Wyatt was so sick we had to stay in the hospital with him for a 24 hour period to get some IV fluids and IV antibiotics into him.

BUT….drum roll please….everyone is doing MUCH better these days and we are so thankful. Health. Don’t take it for granted. (Sleep either for that matter!)

This is a picture of Teagan and Wyatt during a 24 hour period no one got off the couch. They literally slept all day on the couch unless they got up to go potty. It was so sad....but hopefully these days are behind us!! Come on summer - where ya at????!!!

March: Where did you go?!

Wow. It is already the end of the month and I don’t even remember the start of the month! It has been a hellacious month. Both kids have been sick – and Wyatt has been really sick – and Mommy and Daddy are exhausted.

The start of the month featured a run of the mill cold that hung on for about two weeks. I finally gave in and took them into the Dr. because Teagan had a nasty cough. Turns out it was just a bad cough and Wyatt had a horrible ear infection. We had no idea! So onto antibiotics for him….then when they are finally doing better about 5 days into it they caught another little cold somewhere. Well Saturday night I ended up in the local E.R. again because Wyatt had a temp of 102 and was complaining his ear hurt – so I knew I had to get him an antibiotic prescription and get him something for his ear. Ugh! He has been running a temp of 102 or 103 (with Tylenol!) for a few days now. Of course it can’t just go away and be simple can it???? Oh no… and then….he started throwing up yesterday morning!

So off to the Dr. office we go…

Once we arrived at the Dr. office we took the elevator up to the second floor and I think that was a little much for Wyatt because he threw up in the elevator and on Mommy. When the doors opened I stepped out and he threw up again all over the floor just outside the elevator. It was pretty gross…and I feel horrible for the maintenance person at that building!

I guess this is what happens when they are exposed to other little kids now that they are in playschool and playgroups. Geez, I can’t wait for them to start preschool. That is twice a week – does that mean they will be twice as sick?

One shining weekend though was my birthday weekend. My mother-in-law watched the kids for the weekend so we could go to Lake Tahoe and enjoy ourselves with days of snowboarding and massages. Nights of long dinners with white linen tablecloths and bottles of wine. It was heaven.

We also enjoyed the wonderful spring like weather for the first few weeks. Some days it was really warm and I could just feel spring in the air. It was so nice being able to put the kids outside and enjoy spring without bundles and layers of clothes.

Oh summer: where for art thou?!

And my little girl Teagan May is proving to be just that: a girl. She has discovered the art of changing. So therefore: she must change. She changes out of her P.J.’s in the morning and into an outfit. Whenever anything goes wrong with said outfit (e.g. she gets a drop of paint, or food, or water) she must change into a “new outfit Mommy”. Then she changes her mind and wants her P.J.s again. I kid you not; the girl changes outfits at least 3-4 times a day. It was cute in the beginning, now; I am just annoyed that she has learned to dress herself. I am hoping this is just a phase that will fade out when the novelty of it wears off.
Wyatt loves his sports! T-ball - soccer - basketball - he is all about it. All boy this one.

Official E.R. Trip

It is official: we have been indoctrinated into the world of parenthood.

Wyatt fell off a barstool yesterday afternoon and hit the other barstool on the way down…in the process of hitting the other barstool he split his lower lip open. Immediately when he fell I went around the counter and found him on the floor – blood everywhere. I grabbed him - some paper towels – and tried to see how bad it was. I quickly realized it was bad and we needed to head to the Emergency Room.

What does one do with a child that has a split lip that is bleeding profusely and you are alone? Well, you put everyone in the car and book it to the nearest ER. At least, that is what I did!

I guess it was our dumb luck but it was rush hour at the ER and we were deemed not as critical as some of the other people there so we waited for 3 hours to be seen.

Once we did get seen we were told he would require stitches and that they would need to put him out to do it because he would probably not sit through it quietly. So I requested to see if there was anyone from Plastic Surgery that would be available to do the stitches since it was right on his lip line. I know he will have a scar – this is obvious – but at least I wanted his lip line to match up and not be all wonky!

Lucky for us, someone was available and he arrived a mere 10 minutes later. So we were ushered to our own room, Wyatt was prepped/hooked up to monitors and then he was put out. The Dr. did a great job: 7 stitches in total. Wyatt woke up about ½ hour later and was certainly out of it.

By the time we got home it was almost midnight. Travis slept with Wyatt last night just to make sure everything was OK and there were no side effects from the medication. Wyatt asked several times during the night if “his boo boo was gone”. Then this morning he asked me, very politely: “Can you please take it off?”

Sorry bud, this one is going to be there for a while… This was Wyatt and Teagan during the warm days in the beginning of the month.
