July Events
We went to our friends in Ladera Ranch for 4th of July this year. Totally last minute we decided to just head out...well that took 9 hours in the car...and I thought the last 2 would make me crazy! But once we got there we headed over to the water park and had a great time. We also took our very first trip to the beach and saw the ocean. The kids took to the beach like it was second nature. Of course sand filled every nook and cranny they have...but they had a great time! There was also a huge block party and a parade around the neighborhood. Sooo much fun. Thanks Nava's!!
The kids got an easel for their birthday and love to paint. They literally get paint everywhere - and - on everything. Teagan started painting her hands, her feet, her brother, her belly and as usual put the paintbrush in her mouth. She still puts a lot of stuff in her mouth.
They also had their cousin Ben over for a play date one day and did sponge painting with Ben. Again, paint everywhere. Mommy rushing around saying "No touch. No touch" or "Stay over there". But it is inevitable...paint gets everywhere. So I just need to look at the paint on my sliding glass door as a new trend, a new added value!
We have a little lake at the end of our street that a big group of geese live in. Every once in a while when we are feeling brave we take the kids to feed the ducks. The geese you see are on the aggressive side and come right up to you for bread! Wyatt is great at throwing the bread way out into the water for them but Teagan usually can't throw that far so the geese end up coming right to us for the bread. Oh yeah, Teagan will take turns feeding the ducks, and then she takes a bite!
We also love to have "breakfast in beds" on the weekends. The kids pile up onto our bed and watch Mickey Mouse while they eat and we drink coffee. It is such a fun way to start the day, just hanging out together.
Teagan finally has enough hair to do "pig-tails"....barely! She will NOT wear bows, pulls out barrettes, yanks out pony tails/rubber bands; she so won't let me do anything to her hair. When I tell her she needs a haircut like her brother Wyatt gets, she says: "NOPE".
Summer has been great fun...we are really enjoying our new house and new life in Granite Bay.

All about the potty....
If you are not into TMI (too much information) then you should probably skip this post. If you want a couple of funny stories...then read on!
The other day Travis and I were in their room getting them ready for bed and Wyatt is standing there. He lets out this giant fart (like an adult size fart) and gets this big smile on his face and says: "I fffharted". To which Travis and I just started cracking up!
I was gone one evening so Travis was stuck with dinner and the nightly bathtime routine. When I got home, I learned that Teagan had been running around without a diaper (because this helps with the potty training) and needed to poop. Well Daddy was in another room doing something - so Teagan just took a squat in the middle of the kitchen. And it wasn't a number 1 mind you. It was a number 2. Thankfully it was a tile floor.
Yesterday I had the kiddos outside and we had gotten out of the pool and I had filled up their water table. Well they were running around naked after I took their swim diapers off and Wyatt announces he has to pee. I am trying to teach him to pee into the grass - or dirt - or anywhere other than the patio - while trying to teach him to hang onto his dinger at the same time. This is me: I used to be a Marcom Director, I used to negotiate contracts for million dollar houses...now I am trying to teach my son to hold his dinger and aim for the dirt????!!!! What happened to me????!??!?!?
Anyway, Wyatt announces he has to pee and Teagan decides she has to pee too since Wyatt does (lot of peer pressure/competition with the potty training!) So Teagan squats in the middle of the walkway and starts to pee. Wyatt then follows suit and just starts peeing in the middle of the walkway. At which point I just sighed. And headed to get the hose to wash everything down.
And of course I saved the best for last...
Last week after we got out of the pool the kiddos were running around naked. I went inside to start/change out laundry. The kids come into the laundry room from the garage all excited saying:
"Mommy! Mommy!"
"Luck-si eat poo poo."
"Luck-si eat Tiggy poo poo"
"Mommy! Mommy! Luck-si eat poo poo"
You see "Luck-si" is Delux. She is our dog. We call her "lux" for short and the kids have called her "Luck-si" since they were babies.
I know. I know.
EEEwwwwww.
I need to get a job.

June 2009 - Summer Fun
We have been having all sorts of summer fun these days - it has been busy!
We went up to my parents ranch to hang out with the family and see the cousins. The kids LOVE their cousins Max, Ben and K'ina (Kate-tin wasn't there but was missed!).
We also traveled down to the bay area for my niece's high school graduation. This is their cousin "Kate-tin". That was very exciting. I can't believe how quickly they all grow up! Before you know it, it will be these two graduating high school! Eeeekkkk!!!!
The kids turned 2 - so they are officially no longer babies. I keep trying to call them "kids" or "tots" because I naturally still call them babies but they soooo aren't babies anymore!
We went and watched Travis race at a local bike race here in the foothills. That was very exciting. We watched him start the race and then zoom past us. The kids definitely know that Daddy is a bike rider. They see him in all his gear and say to him: "Daddy go bike ride" or "Daddy have helmut on". In the mornings when he leaves or when I wake them up from their nap and he isn't there they say one of two things to me: "Daddy go work" or "Daddy go bike ride". As a result, they are each desperately wanting their own bikes now.
And we have discovered the most fun part of summer of all: SUGAR. They love their popsicles at the end of dinner and they love their juice box treats. They only get a 'sensible sipper' once or twice a week - but wow do they love that. They do a get a mini Popsicle after dinner every night. Come on - it is 100 degrees out - how do you say no to that?!
